ANN ARBOR, Mich. (10/30/2012) -- The Detroit Titans made the trek to Ann Arbor Tuesday evening and fell 2-1 to Michigan in non-conference action at the U-M Soccer Stadium after a hard-fought affair.
The Titans scored first as freshman
Jason Leslie tallied his second career goal in the 41st minute. Alex Mendonca took a corner that was headed by
Pat Lepera, which wound up finding Leslie who put it in to give Detroit a 1-0 lead at the 40:55 mark.
The Wolverines (7-8-2, 2-2-1 Big Ten) would come back though before time expired in the opening frame as Tyler Arnone scored on a penalty kick at 44:47 for Michigan to tie the game 1-1.
Detroit (9-8, 5-1 Horizon League) would play a man down after
Patrick Soltys took a red card for a hand ball in the 18-yard box. Arnone converted the attempt for his fourth goal of the season.
Despite the 1-1 score and Michigan held a 10-2 advantage in shots, the game was still even heading into the break.
Michigan came out and took advantage of the extra man in the second half as James Murphy scored at 65:48 to give the Wolverines a 2-1 lead.
The Wolverines would close out the contest with an overall 18-6 shooting advantage en route to their second straight win.

Nathan Steinwascher made nine saves for Detroit.
Adam Bedell and Leslie each had two shots on goal.
UDM will conclude its regular season on Friday evening at UIC in Chicago with the Horizon League regular season title on the line. The game is scheduled to 8:00 p.m. (ET) at Flames Field.
