DETROIT (11/20/2012) -- For the second-straight year, the Titans will be playing on Thanksgiving as three members of the UDM dance team (DT2) will be on stage with Kid Rock during halftime of the Detroit Lions annual football game.
Seniors
Olivia Furnas and
Rachel Zarem and sophomore
Alyson Fryz were selected after auditions were held last Saturday and they will dance alongside the Detroit rock star as he performs the Motor City anthem "Detroit, Michigan" at halftime.
"We've got something really, really cool planned," Kid Rock said in an article that appeared in the Detroit Free Press. “We're making it really special, not only for Detroit, but for people watching all over the country. As much as it's a celebration of our city, it also gives a lot of nods to a lot of great things in America and other towns."
For Fryz, it marks the second-straight year that she will be on stage as she danced during Nickelback's halftime show of the Lions' Thanksgiving Day game last year.
The three Titan dancers have been hard at practice since they were selected for the game, which will kick off at 12:30 p.m.
The United Way is sponsoring the Thanksgiving halftime show for the 15th year, and Thursday's performance will celebrate the organization's 125th anniversary while promoting the anti-obesity campaign NFL Play 60.
