Tryout Form

DETROIT (8/3/16) – Samantha Sant will become the new head coach of the University of Detroit Mercy dance team, it was announced Wednesday afternoon by Director of Athletic Marketing and Promotions Jeremiah Hergott.
 
"We are thrilled to announce Samantha as the next Dance Coach of the Titans," said Hergott. "After a lengthy search process, it is our belief that we have identified someone who will make a positive impact to not only the Department of Athletics, but more importantly the University and the student-athletes. Samantha's past experience makes her an asset to help with the development of the young student-athlete lives."
 
Sant graduated from Romeo High School where she competed and served as choreographer of the JV and Varsity dance teams before attending Michigan State University, where she founded the MSU Elite Competitive Dance student organization.
 
While in East Lansing, Sant also worked as a dance instructor at the Studio Performing Arts Center, teaching dance and choreographing routines for students of various ages and styles.
 
"I am extremely excited to be coaching at Detroit Mercy," said Sant. "I look forward to sharing my dance experience with the girls and gaining even more from them. I can't wait to see what the future of this program will bring."
 
Sant graduated from Michigan State University in 2014 with a Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Business and is currently the Event Coordinator at Joe Muer Seafood in downtown Detroit.
 
The dance team will hold open tryouts for the upcoming 2016-17 season on August 20 in Calihan Hall from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. All interested parties should fill out and bring the information sheet atop this page or can find the sheet here.
