The Titans (1-6) saw eight different players post goals last week as the defense sparked an 11-6 win over VMI. UDM caused 20 turnovers in the game and that help jumpstart the Titan offense as eight different players notched goals, including a pair from juniors
Alex Maini and
Tom Masterson and sophomore
Scott Drummond.
For the defense, senior
Jamie Hebden broke a school record with seven caused turnovers as he began the week second in the nation in that category with 3.0 per game.
Jacksonville is currently tied for first in the MAAC with a 2-0 record as the Dolphins come into the game at 4-3. JU has won four of their last five as they beat Siena, 11-10, in overtime and Manhattan, 10-7, to start league play.
TJ Kenary leads the offense with 15 points on nine goals and six assists, while Cameron Mann has 15 points on nine goals and five helpers. Ari Waffle has found the back of the net eight times and David Goldman and Conor Igoe have seven goals apiece.
Defensively, Pete DeLuca is a two-time Defensive Player of the Week at goalie and has an 8.61 goals against average and a 57.4 save percentage.
Dan McNulty is the main faceoff specialist winning 53.3% and leads the team with 34 ground balls, while Tyler Black has a team-high 11 caused turnovers with 23 GB's.
Detroit and Jacksonville have split the first two games of the series, with the Dolphins earning a 10-8 decision at home in 2011 and the Titans posting an 8-7 victory in the Motor City last year, thanks to a 5-0 run in the second half. In 2011, the Titans had an 8-6 lead, but the Dolphins ended the contest with four-straight goals.
Detroit will return home next weekend as the Titans host Manhattan at Titan Field, with the opening faceoff set for 11:00 a.m.
