Titans Fall to #10 Ranked Notre Dame Tuesday

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (3/5/2013) -- The Notre Dame Fighting Irish showed why it was the #10 ranked team in the latest Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Coaches Poll with a 22-1 win over the University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse team Tuesday evening.
 
The score was 13-0 in favor of the Irish (4-0) after the first half of play as Notre Dame showed its control throughout the opening stanza.
 
Freshman Ivy Marshall scored her second career goal for Detroit (1-4) with 8:19 to play in the second half taking a pass from Erin Campbell with the tally making the score 21-1 for Notre Dame.
 
Zaynib Hamze grabbed three ground balls for Detroit while Taylor Marshall and Amanda Guthrie each came up with two ground balls apiece. Guthrie and Taylor Marshall had a caused turnover as well while Michaela Schwartz also caused one Notre Dame turnover.
 
UND had five players with multi-goal games as Shauna Pugliese led the attack with four goals and an assist while Jenny Granger had four goals and Kristen Cousins had three goals and an assist.
 
UDM will open the 2013 home schedule on Thursday, March 7 at 2:00 p.m. as Niagara will come to Titan Field.
