NOTRE DAME, Ind. (9/8/2013) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's soccer team fell 4-0 to the No. 8 ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish Sunday evening at Alumni Stadium on the Notre Dame campus.
In the first half, Notre Dame scored early with a goal at the 3:42 mark as Morgan Andrews took a nice pass from Crystal Thomas for a 1-0 lead.
At the break, Notre Dame was still up 1-0 and UDM sophomore goalkeeper
Martha Dunbar made five saves as the Titans had a 15-1 disadvantage in shots. The Fighting Irish had control of the bulk of possession in the first half making it tough for the Titans to move around.
The second half brought a trio of Irish goals with a tally in the 48th minute, the 59th minute, and a late goal in the 90th minute for the 4-0 final.
The Irish posted 34 shots, 16 on goal, to four overall shots for Detroit.
Dunbar finished with six saves in net for Detroit allowing three goals before freshman goalkeeper
Laura Taylor played the final 31 minutes and also making six saves.
The next game for Detroit will be Thursday against the Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor with game time set for 7:00 p.m.
