YPSILANTI, Mich. (1/10/2014) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's indoor track and field team competed at the Bowen Fieldhouse on the campus of Eastern Michigan on Friday evening and came out with a second place finish with 69 points.
The event was a triangular meet with Detroit, Oakland, and the host team from Eastern Michigan competing and the UDM men's team claiming a second place finish behind host EMU with 69 points but ahead of third place Oakland who had 42 points. #BeatOakland
In the weight throw, senior
Eric Lewis was third while junior
Colin Cashner had a personal best of 15.00 meters which was almost two meters better than his previous best of 13.26m.
In the mile run, redshirt freshman
Austin Wigent ran 4:21.18 to place fourth. The other long distance race saw UDM freshman
Ryan Leahy set a personal record at 8:54.24 and come in third while senior
Sam Felton had a PR at 9:03.27 and junior
Ylli Alla clocked in at 9:05.90.
Freshman
Brandon Wilks ran 7.03 and was second in the 60 meter dash while senior
Charles Anthony was just behind at a 7.05 mark.
Senior
Steven Ivanics ran an 8.51 in the 60 meter hurdles while freshman
Ilia Panev had an 8.61 and fellow freshman
Jacob Whitting had a 9.09.
Freshman
Khalil Parris had a time of 50.68 in the 400 meter run and also anchored the 4x400 meter relay team to a second place finish.
Sophomore
Joshua Carolin led the 800 meter race for 750 meters but came in with a third place finish and a strong time of 1:56.08.
The next meet for the Titans is scheduled for Jan. 18 as UDM will compete in Ann Arbor at the University of Michigan.
