LOUISVILLE, Ky. (10/4/2014) -- Senior Colin Creagh posted a personal record by nearly 50 seconds as the University of Detroit Mercy men's cross country team competed in the 13th Annual Greater Louisville Classic, held at E.P. Tom Sawyer State Park on Saturday.
 
Detroit – running in the event for the seventh-straight year – finished in 22nd place with 606 points, tying for the second highest finish in school history in the GLC's 8k Gold Race. UDM was 22nd in 2009.
 
Creagh led two Titans in the top 100 as he took 54th in 25:02, besting his PR of 25:51 at this season's National Catholic Championship. He never broke the 26-minute mark in his two previous runs in the event and it was also the second fastest time by a Titan at Louisville trailing only Pat Liederbach's 24:54 in the Gold Race in 2008.
 
Freshman Ben Kendell was 83rd in a season-best 25:25, a time that is now fifth at the GLC in school history.
 
Sophomore Ryan Leahy recorded a new career best by three seconds placing 162nd in 26:11, while junior Derek Gielarowski just missed a PR by two ticks posting a 26:25 for 188th, his best run in three races on the course.
 
Freshman Charlie Felton made his 8k debut and was 194th in 26:27 and senior George Holman took almost a minute of his GLC best running the course in 26:38 for 202nd.
 
Rounding out the Titans was junior Austin Wigent claiming 216th in 26:56, an improvement by over one minute from his 28:18 time last season. Senior Ylli Alla took 234th in 27:35 and freshman Miles Kelleher crossed the finish line in 28:33 for 245th.
 
The Titans will have one more race to get ready for the Horizon League Championship as the red, white and blue travel to Jesuit-rival Canisius to take part in the Canisius Alumni Classic on Oct. 18.
