DETROIT (2/26/2015) – The University of Detroit Mercy softball team will begin its Spring Break tour with a trip to Louisiana to play in the Louisiana Tech Triple Play from Feb. 28-March 1. The Titans are set to face the host Bulldogs twice as well as play two games against Southern. 
 
Following the LA Tech Triple Play the Titans will stay in Louisiana to face Nicholls State (3/2), Ball State (3/3) and Southeastern Louisiana (3/3), before playing a doubleheader at Southern Miss on March 4. Detroit will conclude its Spring Break tour with a doubleheader against Holy Cross on March 5 in Baton Rouge, La.

The Titans will open the LA Tech Triple Play against the tournament host Bulldogs at 1:15 p.m. ET on Saturday, before facing Southern in the nightcap at 3:30 p.m. The red, white and blue will play LA Tech again at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, before facing Southern for a second time at 5:30 p.m. to complete the four game tournament.
 
The Titans opened play Feb. 13-15 at the USF Presidents Day Weekend Tournament. Although Detroit (0-5) dropped all five games, junior pitcher/first baseman Christa McGahuey was still named the College Sports Madness Horizon Softball Player of the Week.
 
McGahuey finished the Titans opening weekend hitting .273 with two home runs, one double, three RBI and a .909 slugging percentage. The junior also appeared in the circle in three games and recorded a team-best nine strikeouts.
 
Detroit will return to the diamond in two weeks when it travels to Miami, Ohio to play in the Miami Invitational from March 13-15. The Titans are set to face Dayton, North Dakota, Miami (OH) and Robert Morris.
