Joe Gifford needs your vote as he is currently a semifinalist for Challenge Detroit! Voting ends April 12 so vote now and often.
Gifford is currently one of 175 semifinalists vying for an opportunity to gain a fellowship at Challenge Detroit.
"After four years within the city and at the University of Detroit Mercy, Detroit has become part of my identity," said Gifford. "This has drawn me to contribute to the city's evolution and build on its unique history. As Detroit's future develops, I believe there must be an emphasis on collaborative efforts, large and small, to continue the city's progress. As a Detroiter and a Challenge Detroit Fellow, I will be able to join a dedicated group of young professionals who will turn this vision into reality."
A four-year letter winner in men's lacrosse, Gifford has played in 45 games in his career at defense. Has been a part of a unit that has ranked among the leaders of caused turnovers and was also a part of the Titans' 2013 MAAC Championship and NCAA Tournament appearance, both the first in school history.
An English major with a minor in business, he is also a four-time member of the Detroit Athletic Director's Honor Roll, a three-time honoree of the MAAC Academic Honor Roll and two-time recipient of the MAAC All-Academic Team.
Challenge Detroit is an urban revitalization project bringing together individuals of various intellects and backgrounds from our own backyard and across the country to come together to live, work, play, give and lead in Detroit by uniting with area companies, non-profits and cultural institutions.
Challenge Detroit's mission is to attract and retains the next generation of leaders from our own backyard and across the nation who have the courage, passion, and drive to make a difference providing them with the opportunity to collaborate and lend their intellectual capital to philanthropic challenges that will contribute to the growth and revitalization of the Greater Detroit area.
