PONTIAC, Mich. (2/11/2016) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse team played in its lone exhibition game of the 2016 season and eight players scored goals as the Titans earned an 11-6 win Thursday at Ultimate Soccer Arenas.
Three players scored two goals as senior
Kylie Birney and freshmen
Morgan Girardi and
Kaitlyn Wandelt each found the back of the net two times. Senior
Michaela Schwartz led the Titans with four points on one goal and three assists.
Detroit, in its fifth season under head coach
Laura Maness, scored the first two goals of the game and led 7-2 at halftime. The Titans took a 9-2 lead early in the second half as they cruised to the victory.
Freshman goalkeeper
Allison McDonough played the entire game in net and made five saves.
Junior
Kelsi Pritchard, sophomores
Jordyn Beam,
Jessica Snyder and
Brianna Plester all added goals for Detroit. Freshman
Lexie Kinmond led the Titans with two draw controls and added an assist for Detroit.
The Titans out-shot Tiffin in the game, 22-14, and converted on 3-of-7 free position chances.
UDM opens the 2016 regular season on Saturday at No. 18-ranked Ohio State.
