ScheduleTournament CentralDetroit Stats DETROIT (3/10/16) – The University of Detroit Mercy softball team looks to get back on track this weekend as the squad suits up for four games at the USF Under Armour Showcase taking place Friday and Saturday, Mar. 11-12 from the Sunshine State. 
The Titans will square off against Iona and UMass-Lowell on Friday, before facing Butler and New Mexico State on Saturday.

SCOUTING THE TITANSThe BatsJunior 
Alyssa James leads the team with a .340 batting average and nine RBI. Freshman 
Jordan Manno is hitting .320 with a team-best 10 runs scored and seven stolen bases. Junior 
Laura Villagrana is hitting .255, followed by sophomore 
Savvy Ferstle with a .241 batting average and nine RBI. 
Over the last eight games, James is hitting an even .500 with two extra base hits and six RBI. 
The ArmsFreshman 
Ashley Mauser leads the pitching staff with a 3.52 ERA and 2-4 record in 14 appearances. She has tallied two complete games, including a shutout, with 22 strikeouts. 
Senior 
Christa McGahuey is 0-5 with a 5.70 ERA, followed by junior 
Keaira Schilling with a 1-3 record, two saves and 5.75 ERA in 14 appearances. 
TITAN NOTES- The Titans won their season opener in 2016 the first time since 2002, when Detroit defeated Robert Morris, 8-3.
 - Detroit's back-to-back shutouts against Radford and South Carolina State were the Titans' first since 2006 against IPFW.
 - UDM's three game win streak against Charleston, Radford and South Carolina State was the Titans' first since 2012 against Lafayette, Fairleigh Dickinson and Dayton
 - Detroit recorded its third-straight shutout win with a 4-0 decision over Seton Hall. It was the first time UDM has done so since 1992 against Loyola and Dayton (twice)
 - The 4-0 win over Seton Hall on Mar. 4 was Detroit's fourth-straight victory. The last time UDM had won four straight was in 2008 against La Salle (twice), Western Carolina and Holy Cross
 
SCOUTING THE OPPOSITIONIonaThe Gaels enter the weekend at 1-4 overall. Iona defeated fellow Horizon League member Youngstown State, 11-4, for their lone victory thus far. Marisa Gergel leads the team with a .438 batting average and four runs scored, followed by Katie Newton with a .389 clip. Christine Costello rounds out the top hitters with a .313 batting average and four RBI. Carly Argyle anchors the rotation with a 5.84 ERA and 1-1 record in 12.1 innings pitched. 
UMass LowellThe River Hawks enter the weekend at 3-8 overall and have faced four common opponents with Detroit. Lowell is 2-4 against South Carolina State, Radford, Campbell and Charleston, while Detroit is 4-0. Tori Alcorn is batting .452 with a team-high six runs scored and three stolen bases. Alisha Welch is hitting .379 with a team-best five RBI, followed by Brianna West with a .333 batting average and five runs scored. Sydney Wash leads the staff with a 1.50 ERA and 1-2 record in four appearances, while Lauren Ramirez is 0-1 with a 1.71 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 16.1 innings pitched. 
ButlerThe Bulldogs enter the weekend at 10-9 and winners of their last four of five. Butler is led by a quartet who are all hitting north of .340. Maggie MacBeth leads the team with 24 hits and is connecting at a .381 clip, 19 runs scored and a team-high seven stolen bases. Brandyce Sallee has a team-best .390 average and adds 15 runs and 12 RBI, while Kaitlin Doud is batting .345 with a team-high 21 RBI. Sarah Dixon rounds out the top performers with a .340 average and team-high 20 runs scored. Senior Kristin Gutierrez leads the staff with a 1.50 ERA and 4-4 mark with seven complete games and 41 strikeouts in nine starts. Mikeila Boroff gives the Bulldogs a second quality arm with a 1.83 ERA and 3-1 mark. 
New Mexico StateThe Aggies enter the weekend at 17-8 overall and are 6-2 in their last eight contests. Rachel Rodriguez leads the lineup with a .447 batting average and adds 25 runs scored and 18 stolen bases. Kelsey Horton anchors the middle of the order with a .431 clip and team-best 10 home runs, 26 runs scored and 29 RBI. Emma Adams is hitting .420 with 23 RBI, followed by Fiana Finau at .373 and 24 RBI. Eight Aggies regulars are hitting north of .350 and their team batting average of .380 is second nationally. Karysta Donisthorpe leads the staff with a 2.91 ERA and 6-4 record with 50 strikeouts in 14 starts. Makayla McAdams is 7-3 with a 4.43 ERA in 16 appearances. 
ON DECKFollowing the weekend's action, the Titans return to the field Tuesday, Mar. 22 against Wisconsin. The neutral-site double header is set to begin at 12 p.m. from Chicago, Ill.
