BUFFALO, N.Y. (4/23/2016) -- Senior
Andy Hebden posted two goals and an assist, but Canisius went on a fourth-quarter run as the University of Detroit Mercy men's lacrosse team fell 9-5 at the Demske Sports Complex on Saturday night.
Hebden also picked up a team-high four ground balls. Junior
JD Hess recorded a goal and an assist and junior
Brad Harris and sophomore
Sean Birney each put in a goal. Junior
Jason Weber registered nine saves and sophomore
Charlie Hayes had two caused turnovers.
The loss drops Detroit to 2-9 overall and 2-3 in the MAAC as the Titans will need to win their last game of the regular season against Marist and scoreboard watch to see if Monmouth can beat Siena.
Canisius (4-7, 3-3 MAAC) got the first goal of the game just a few minutes in, but Detroit came back with three straight. Hess assisted on Birney's seventh marker of the year midway through the period to make it 1-1 at the end of the first.
Hebden picked up as assist setting up Harris' first goal of the season at the 12:37 mark of the second period and Detroit extended its leads to 3-1 less than a minute later as Hebden fired one in.
Canisius would end the period with three-straight goals for a 4-3 lead at the break, but Hebden's second goal of the contest knotted it at 4-4 with 6:57 left in the third. The game was then tied at 5-5 early in the fourth as Hess ripped one past the goalie, but the Golden Griffins ended the evening with four-straight markers to earn the victory.

Detroit will now prepare for a battle with Marist as the Titans host the Red Foxes next Saturday, April 30, in a 1:00 p.m., match-up at Titan Field. It will be Senior Day as Detroit honors its six-member senior class before the game.
