HIGHLAND, Mich. (10/17/2017) -- Three Titans finished tied for ninth and four made the top 15 as the University of Detroit Mercy men's golf team wrapped up play at its Titans Motown Collegiate on Tuesday at Prestwick Village Golf Club in Highland.

The Titans were in a battle for first place all day long with Robert Morris and Youngstown State and ended up in third with a season-best 902 (304-294-304). RMU won posting an 888 (303-294-291), while YSU placed second at 893 (297-298-298).

Senior Eric Macrow and sophomores Scott Sparks and Zack Tenerowicz all shared ninth tallying a 225, while redshirt freshman Jonathan Brillati registered his first career top-20 performance tying for 14th with a career-best 227. 

The Titans fall season is now complete as Detroit Mercy prepares for the championship spring campaign.

Here is a recap of the action at the Titans Motown Collegiate:

• The last time Detroit Mercy hosted a tournament was the Titan Invitational at Prestwick Village in 2013. 
• The 902 score was the best of the season by 21 shots over the 923 at the NKU Fall Collegiate Classic.
• It was also the best score since totaling an 887 at last season's Big Blue Intercollegiate.
• The second-round 294 was the best of the fall by seven shots over the third round 301 at the CSU Invite and the best since posting a 294 in the second round of the Big Blue Intercollegiate last spring. 
• The Titans were third in the event with 161 total pars and fourth with 26 birdies.
• As a team, the red, white and blue played the course's par 5's to a -7, 4.88 average, tied for second in the tournament.
• The top 10 effort from Macrow was the fifth of his career, while his opening-round 1-over 73 and 225 was a season-best. 
• Macrow led the team and was third in the field with 39 pars. 
• Sparks and Tenerowicz shot the identical score in each round as Sparks recorded his second career top-10 finish and Tenerowicz registered his first.
• Sparks led the team and was tied for sixth among the competition with eight birdies to go with 30 pars.
• Tenerowicz knocked in seven birdies and 32 pars and led the field on the par 5's with a -5, 4.58 average. 
• Brillati's 227 was a career best by three shots over the 230 he carded at NKU earlier this season.
• He also tallied a career-low, even-par 72 in the second round as he ended the event with seven birdies and 30 pars. 
• Schulert was third in the tournament on the course's par 3's recording a 1-over, 3.08 average.
• Tucci lowered his season best by 15 strokes with his 247 and he also posted his career round twice with a 77 in round two and a 4-over 76 on the final 18.
