AURORA, Ohio (10/3/2017) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's golf team shot its best round of the event to end play at the CSU Invitational on Tuesday, held at the Par-72, 7,049-yard Barrington Country Club in Aurora, Ohio.
The Titans ended the tournament tallying a 300 in the final round to place ninth overall with a 921 (306-309-300).
Sophomore
Scott Sparks led Detroit Mercy with a 229 (74-77-78), while redshirt freshman
Jonathan Brillati shared 37th with a 233 (75-85-73) as he posted a career-low 1-over 73 on the final 18.
Detroit Mercy will now get ready to host the Titans Motown Collegiate from Oct. 16-17 at Prestwick Village Golf Club in Highland, Michigan.Â

Here is a recap of the action at the CSU Invite:
- Sparks led the team with 38 pars, tied for the second most in the field.Â
- Senior Eric Macrow topped the team with eight birdies, tied for 13th among the competition.
- Macrow and freshman Drew Tucci each had an eagle as Macrow knocked in his third shot on the par 5 fifth hole in round two and Tucci put in his third shot on the par 5 third hole.
- Brillati added 33 pars in the tournament, while sophomore Zack Tenerowicz posted six birdies.
- Brillati lowered his career low in a round by one stroke with his final-round, 1-over 73 from the 74 in the third round of the NKU Fall Collegiate Classic.Â
- The 73 was also the best round in the event for the Titans as he registered two birdies and 12 pars.Â
- Playing as an individual, Drew Tucci lowered his season best by 22 strokes with his 247.
