FORT WAYNE, Ind. (4/2/2017) -- Senior
Sarah Thompson leads three Titans in the top 20 as the University of Detroit Mercy women's golf team opened up the Fort Wayne Spring Classic on Sunday at the Par 71, 5,966-yard Pine Valley Country Club.
The tournament originally called for 18 holes on Sunday and the last 18 on Monday, but due to weather, the event moved to 36 holes today and is hoping to play one final round on Monday.
The Titans are currently tied for third with a 634 (314-320).
Thompson is tied for sixth after 36 holes with a 154 (73-81), just four shots out of third place. She led Detroit Mercy and was tied for sixth in the field with 22 pars and is tied for the team lead and fifth in the competition with three birdies.
Senior
Sarah Montone and sophomore
Erica Heath are tied for 17th after both shot an 82 in round one and a 79 in round two for a 161 total. Montone had 21 pars in the first two rounds and Heath tallied 17 with a pair of birdies.
Senior
Brooke Sharpe carded a 163 (82-81) as did freshman
Julia Shaw (77-86) as both are tied for 21st.
The final round of the event is slated to tee off at 10 a.m., on Monday pending Mother Nature.
