YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (5/7/17) – The University of Detroit Mercy women's track and field team piled up 11 event places on Sunday in the final day of the Horizon League Outdoor Championships from Farmers National Bank Field at Youngstown State University.
 
HIGHLIGHTS

• The women finish the Championships in sixth-place with 67 points, just behind NKU for fifth-place.
• Detroit Mercy placed in all but two of the events competed: 100m (Carnathan, Hamilton), 200m (Hamilton), 800m (Fetherolf), 1500m (Fetherolf), 400H (Zakalowski), 4x100, 4x400, triple jump (Brundige) and hammer (Gustafson, Bayles).
• The 4x100m relay team of A.J. Carnathan, Kyri Jackson, Brogan Holmes and Alyson Hamilton took gold with a time of 48.49. All four earn First Team All-Horizon League honors in the relay.
• The 4x400 relay team of Jayona Dent, Jackson, Elizabeth Mullen and Natalie Vizard placed fifth in 3:54.55.
• Alyson Hamilton placed in the 100m (seventh), 200m (sixth) and 4x100 (first).
• Sydnie Fetherolf placed in the 800m (sixth) and 1,500m (fifth).
• Brynne Gustafson took bronze in the hammer with a PR and #9 all-time mark in program history. The mark gave her Honorable Mention All-Horizon League honors.
• Ashley Bayles finished fith in the hammer to give the Titans two with points from the event.
• A.J. Carnathan took fourth in the 100m with a PR of 12.23.
• Samantha Zakalowski finished seventh in the 400m hurdles.
• Lynda Brundige took eighth in the triple jump.

"We had a great meet. We competed well and didn't let tough conditions affect us. We scored in all but two events we entered and improved a spot in the final standings from last year."
