Steffes Flings Career Best In Discus To Score At #HLTF Championships

Junior Grace Steffes set a PR while scoring in the discus.

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. (5/8/2026) -- Junior Grace Steffes threw a career best in the discus as the University of Detroit Mercy women's track and field team started the Horizon League Championships on Friday.

Oakland is hosting the event, making it a short drive for the Titans.

Steffes tallied the only two points on the day as she was seventh in the discus at 38.40 meters, a new personal record.

UDM also had two runners move into the championship 1,500 meters as graduate senior Nina Pizzo claimed seventh in a career-low 4:39.90, eighth in school history, while sophomore Aubrey Mery finished 11th in a career time of 4:45.88.

In the start of the heptathlon, senior Jada Clark sits fifth with 2,337 points, where she was third in the high jump clearing 1.54m.

The second day of the championships is set to start with the multi-events at 9:00 a.m.
