Louisville, Ky. (9/30/17) -- Senior harrier
Sydnie Fetherolf finished fourth to lead the University of Detroit Mercy women's cross country team at the 16th Annual Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday.
The 5k race was held at E.P Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky, and hosted by the Louisville Sports Commission.
Fetherolf posted a time of 18:00 to earn fourth place in the race. The mark is a personal record by nine seconds and the fastest run in Titan history at the Greater Louisville Classic, becoming the first Titan to ever crack 18-minutes flat in the event.
"Sydnie is having a great senior year," said
Guy Murray '89, Director of Track and Field/Cross Country. "She got out front and competed for the win. There were fast conditions with good weather and the course was firm, so it was a good day to run fast."
Senior
Jenny Ponkowski was the next to cross the finish line for the Titans with a time of 19:30, which earned her 30th place.
Also running for the Titans was freshman
Aliza Hengesbach, who finished with a time of 19:47. Junior
Veronica Towianski crossed the line at 20:03 and sophomore
Kayla Hughes set a PR of 20:08, improving upon her previous best by four seconds.
