All Smiles As Claire Hunt Earns Horizon League Sportsmanship Award

INDIANAPOLIS (12/4/2025) -- University of Detroit Mercy senior Claire Hunt was honored by the Horizon League for her constant professionalism and attitude as she was named the winner of the 2025 HL Cross Country Sportsmanship Award.

The Sportsmanship Award recognizes student-athletes who have distinguished themselves through demonstrated acts of sportsmanship and ethical behavior. Sportsmanship is defined as behavior exhibited during competition by student-athletes based on values, respect and integrity.

Just like her Instagram handle says, "Sunny Claire" is always positive in competition against opponents and her teammates. She is always congratulating all racers at the end of the event and is a great teammate.

Claire joins is the second Titan cross country athlete to receive the award, following Allison Sherman in 2023. She is also the fifth student-athlete from Detroit Mercy honored, joining Sherman (Cross Country & Indoor Track & Field), Nina Pizzo (Indoor Track and Field), Oscar Hernandez (Indoor Track and Field), and Drew Pierson (Men's Soccer).
