DETROIT (1/2/2019) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team renews its rivalry with crosstown foe Oakland on Friday, playing its Metro Series rivals in a 7 p.m. contest from O'rena in Rochester.
The Titans will be hosting a pregame reception at Buddy's in Rochester with all Detroit Mercy fans receiving 15-percent off their bills. Buddy's is located at 2612 Squirrel Road in Auburn Hills, just next to Oakland's campus. The game is also slated to be seen live via ESPN-Plus for a monthly subscription fee.

Jackson hit two 3-pointers in the game and is just two shy of 100 in her Titan career. She would become the 16th player in school history to reach the century mark in triples made.
Scouting Oakland
Oakland is 3-10 overall and 0-2 in Horizon League play entering Friday's game. The Golden Grizzlies narrowly lost to Cleveland State, 64-62, before falling 69-55 to YSU at home on Sunday. OU had a 42-39 lead over the Penguins heading into the fourth quarter, but YSU out-scored the home squad 30-13 in the final frame, fueled by a 19-of-27 free-throw clip in the last 10 minutes.
Senior Taylor Jones leads the team and ranks fifth in the Horizon League in points per game (15.1), while also leading the squad in assists (44) and steals (24). She ranks second in rebounding (6.2 boards per game). Senior LaKyesha Stennis is second in the league in 3-pointers made per game (2.3), while freshman Kahlaijah Dean is second in scoring (8.8 ppg), 3-pointers made (17) and steals (21).

Detroit Mercy holds a 15-12 series advantage over the Golden Grizzlies in 27 career meetings. The Titans are 5-7 in true road contests against Oakland and 3-3 under head coach

The Titans fell in both meetings last season, but are 2-1 at the O'rena under coach Scott. Oakland won the last meeting by a 85-74 margin on Feb. 19, 2018 in a game played in Calihan Hall on Senior Day.
