DETROIT (1/10/2019) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's basketball team is back in action this weekend, visiting IUPUI in Indianapolis on Friday morning for an 11 a.m. contest against the Jaguars. It's the second morning game for the Titans this season after the squad hosted Omaha in their Field Trip Day game on Nov. 29.
Detroit Mercy will then travel to Chicago for a Sunday afternoon contest against the UIC Flames. Friday's game may be seen live via ESPN3.com, while Sunday's contest is set to be broadcast on ESPN-Plus for a small monthly subscription fee.

Ashley Miller recorded her first career double-double at Oakland on Friday, totaling 10 points and 10 rebounds. It was the third double-double by a Titan this season.

Brittney Jackson needs just one 3-pointer for 100 in her Titan career. She would become the 16th player in school history to reach 100 triples. She has 99 treys in 99 career games.

Jess Bicknell tallied 15 points at Oakland, her sixth double-figure scoring effort in her first 14 career games. Bicknell ranks fourth in league games in field goal percentage (15-of-27) at a 55.6 percent clip. Bicknell ranks seventh among Horizon League freshmen in scoring at 7.9 points per game.

Brittney Jackson scored a career-best 16 points and junior
Zoey Oatis added 16 points and the Titans used a furious fourth quarter rally to pull within striking range of Oakland, but the Titans ultimately fell 74-67 to their Metro Series rival. Detroit Mercy scored 31 points in the final quarter, its highest-scoring quarter of the season.
Four Titans were in double with freshman guard
Jess Bicknell adding 15 points off the bench and junior
Ashley Miller totaling 10 points and 10 rebounds for her first career double-double. Miller had eight rebounds after halftime. Jackson and Bicknell combined for 27 points after halftime to help lead the comeback effort.
Detroit Mercy was 20-of-29 from the free throw line during the contest and grabbed 39 rebounds in the contest. Oatis notched her third-straight game of multiple steals, grabbing two steals in the contest at OU.
Scouting IUPUI
IUPUI is 2-2 in Horizon League play so far on the young season with victories coming over Cleveland State and Northern Kentucky and losses coming against Wright State and Youngstown State. The Jaguars loss against WSU was in overtime in the league opener on Dec. 28. Overall on the season, IUPUI has an 8-7 record.
Preseason Player of the Year Macee Williams leads the squad in scoring (18.7 ppg) and rebounding (8.1 rpg), which ranks first and fifth in the Horizon League, respectively. Holly Hoopingarner also scores in double figures at 11.7 points per game and leads the HL in free-throw percentage (87.5). Sydney Hall leads the team with 26 3-pointers made. The Jaguars have the third-best scoring defense in the league, allowing just 61.8 points per contest through 15 games.
All-Time Series
The Titans and Jaguars have met just two times previously -- both last season -- with IUPUI winning both meetings, one on the road and one at home. Detroit Mercy fell to IUPUI in its first-ever meeting on Jan. 11, 2018 by a 90-62 margin before also dropping a home matchup against the Jags in February.
