DETROIT (10/30/2019) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse program has announced its 2020 season schedule on Wednesday afternoon. The Titans are slated to have seven home games among their 17-game regular season schedule overall, including hosting Southern Conference rivals Mercer and Central Michigan in April.
The Titans, which earned their second-straight share of the SoCon regular season championship in 2019, open the season on the road against Big Ten opponent Northwestern on Feb. 7 before welcoming Arizona State to Detroit for a Valentine's Day contest on Feb. 14. Following a road clash at Butler on Feb. 20, the Titans welcome old ASUN opponent Jacksonville into town for a home game on Feb. 23.
Head coach Megan Callahan's squad then hits the road for three-straight playing road contests at Manhattan (Feb. 29), Winthrop (March 5) and Gardner-Webb (March 8). The Titans are back home for the next two, welcoming Marquette and Presbyterian to Detroit on March 11 and March 20, respectively.
The following weekend has Detroit Mercy opening Southern Conference play at Wofford on March 27 and then Furman on March 29. Following a road date at Akron on April 5, the red, white and blue then host UC-Davis on April 10 before hosting SoCon foes Mercer and Central Michigan in back-to-back weekends on April 12 and April 19, respectively.
The final weekend of the regular season has the Titans heading out east to close out Southern Conference play at Delaware State on April 24, before concluding the regular season at Howard on April 26.
The 2020 Southern Conference Championship is in the state of Michigan in the third year of women's lacrosse in the conference with Central Michigan hosting the tournament in Mount Pleasant. The top-four teams make the championship with the semifinals slated for Friday, April 30 and the championship game set for Sunday, May 2 on the campus of CMU.
Detroit Mercy enters its second season under head coach
Megan Callahan '13 and 12th season overall as a Division I women's lacrosse program. The program is wrapping up its fall ball season as it prepares for the 2020 campaign.
