LOUISVILLE, Ky. (10/5/2019) -- Two harriers were in the top 50 and two Titans set career marks as the University of Detroit Mercy men's cross country team placed fourth at the Greater Louisville Classic on Saturday.
Detroit Mercy totaled 269 points for fourth in the 8k blue race and was the highest Division I team beating the likes of Cincinnati, Kennesaw State, Murray State and Western Kentucky at E.P Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky.
The fourth-place finish was tied for the second-best in school history at the event.
Senior
James McCann was the top Titan as he was 22nd in 25:10, his best run of the season and best run at Louisville, while sophomore
Dakota Hundley took over two minutes off his Notre Dame 8k run, finishing 35th in 25:29.
Junior
Thomas Mueller earned 51st in a PR of 25:38 and senior
Scott Smith set a career time of 26:11 for 89th.
The Titans will now have two weeks off before their regular-season finale when they run in the Canisius Alumni Classic on Oct. 19.

- The men were also fourth in the blue race in 2015 with 205 points
- The Titans have had a runner in the top 25 in each of the last five years after having just one in the previous eight races at Louisville
- McCann was 18th at Louisville in 2017 in 26:07, while his run today was the eighth-best run at Louisville in school history
- Hundely and Mueller now own the 10th and 11 best times, respectively, in school history at Louisville with their times today
- Mueller's PR was 26:11 at last year's Louisville Classic, while Smith's was 26:23.3 at Canisius in 2018
- The school 8k record was broke on the course by Ben Kendell clocking 23:54 last season
