DETROIT (4/15/19) -- University of Detroit Mercy senior hurler Ashley Mauser earned Horizon League Pitcher of the Week accolades for the third time this season, and second in as many weeks.
Ashley picked up four wins during this week of action, three of which came against Horizon League competition. The Titans swept Cleveland State by a score of 3-0, all behind the stellar pitching of Mauser.
In game one, she tossed her third straight complete game shutout in a 2-0 win. She went the distance, surrendering only four hits and striking out seven batters.
In game two, the action was tied 1-1 after 6.1 innings, and Mauser came in to relieve Murphy of her duties. She tossed 1.2 innings, allowing one hit, one earned run, her first in 23 innings, and striking out three in a 3-2 win in game two of the doubleheader.
In game three, she went 5.1 innings, scattering three hits, two earned runs and seven strikeouts. She wracked up her 400th career strikeout in game three as well.
The Titans then headed to Mt. Pleasant for a non-conference matchup versus the Chippewas of Central Michigan.
After the Titans dropped a nail biter in game one, Mauser tossed 4.2 innings, scattering two hits and three strikeouts in a 3-1 win in game two.
Overall on the week, she tossed 18.2 innings, giving up only 10 hits, three earned runs, and 20 strikeouts. Her overall record is now 13-8 on the year.
