BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (3-28-26) - Detroit Mercy bounced back with a solid effort led by sophomore
Wendy Ketola, who belted her third home run of the season, going 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored as the Titans' seventh-inning rally came up short in a 7-5 setback at Indiana on Saturday afternoon at Andy Mohr Field.
Junior
Jada Davis went 2-for-4 with an RBI single and a run scored, while junior
Liv Peterson hit 1-for-4 with two RBI. Freshman
Jenna Higgins also had one of the UDM's six hits, going 1-for-4 with a run, while sophomore
Abby Klaft also added an RBI.
Recap:
• The Titans took an early 2-0 lead off Peterson's two-run single, scoring Klaft and Davis in the first inning.
• IU got a run back in the bottom half off an RBI double.
• Ketola belted a solo shot to left field, moving UDM ahead 3-1 in the top of the second.
• The Hoosiers got two runs in the bottom of the second off back-to-back hit batters with the bases loaded, tying the game at 3-3.
• In the bottom of the third, IU added another pair of runs off an RBI single and a fielder's choice for a 5-3 lead.
• The Hooisers then posted a two-run triple for a 7-3 advantage.
• UDM mounted a rally in the top of the seventh as Davis delivered an RBI single to score Ketola. Klaft then hit a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded, scoring Higgins to inch closer at 7-5.

Hannah Schlachter then drew a walk to load the bases with two outs, but IU forced a groundout to end the game, leaving all three runners stranded.
The Titans will play their third and final Big Ten opponent at in-state rival Michigan State on Wednesday, April 1, at 5 p.m.
