Softball Ready To Host Bowling Green For Tuesday Doubleheader

DETROIT (4/15/19) -- The University of Detroit Mercy softball team will host non-conference foe Bowling Green State University for a doubleheader on Tuesday afternoon. 

The Titans are coming off a split against Central Michigan University that saw them take game two by a final of 3-1. 

Both games will be broadcast via ESPN+, with the link available atop the page. Live stats will also be accessible via the link at the top of the page. 

First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m., with game two slated to begin at 4 p.m.

FROM THE PLATE
Senior Jordan Manno is having a career year, as she leads the team in every offensive category. She leads the team in batting average (.344), hits (44), home runs (5), doubles (11), slugging percentage (.563), on base percentage (.406) and RBI (25). She is tied for the team lead in walks (14). 

Six Titans have reached double digits in RBI -- Manno (24), Courtney Gilbert (21), Ellie Boteler (18), Kori Keyes (16), McKenna Tanguay (14), and Alyssa Lang (12).

The six Titans that have double digit RBIs are also the six that have hit at least one home run this year. 

Seven Titans have tripled so far this season. Manno, Gilbert (2), Tanguay, Lang, Keyes, Sydney Pollock and Jen Lorenz are all in the three bag club. 

Pollock leads the team in stolen bases with 13, and is 13-15 on stolen base attempts this season. 

Manno leads the league in putouts (125), hits (18) and total bases (31). She is second in the league in runs scored (13). Gilbert leads the league in assists (33) and fielding double plays, along with Lang, with three each.

IN THE CIRCLE  
The Titans are led by Ashley Mauser who is piecing together arguably the best season in Titan history. 

She has a 13-8 record, with a 2.12 ERA. She has 75 strikeouts in Horizon League play, and 157 on the season, both of which are highs in the Horizon League. 

She leads the league in innings pitched (61), strikeouts (75), and has twice as many wins as the next closest pitcher (8). 

She has tossed four games this season with 10+ strikeouts, five 9 strikeout games, and is looking to make a push for Horizon League Pitcher of the Year in her last season wearing the red, white and blue.

She has been tabbed HL Pitcher of the Week three times this season after dominating performances in Florida, at Buysse Ballpark versus Youngstown State and in Cleveland versus Cleveland State. 

Also having a career year for the Titans in the circle is junior hurler Liz Murphy. She has a 4-10 record with a 3.02 ERA, which is a career low in ERA for her.

She has 78 strikeouts across her 90.1 innings pitched so far, putting her on pace to break her record for strikeouts in a season. 

She has 39 strikeouts in the Horizon League, which is second only to Mauser. Murphy leads the league in saves (5) and batters struck out looking (15).

SCOUTING THE OPPOSITION
Bowling Green is 16-23 overall and 4-10 in MAC play. 

They are led offensively by Madi McCoy who bats .386 with seven home runs and 23 RBI. Nikki Sorgi bats .340 and also has 23 RBI to her name. 

In the circle, Meredith Miller sees most of the action for the Falcons. She is 12-12 this year, with a 3.20 ERA over 142 innings and has accumulated 136 strikeouts. 

ON DECK
After taking on the Falcons, the Titans will return to Horizon League play, when they head to Green Bay to take on the Phoenix on April 19-20.
