TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (2/8/2020) -- The University of Detroit Mercy softball team had a tough task to start the season as the Titans fell to a pair of ACC powerhouses at the JoAnne Graf Classic, hosted by Florida State.
Detroit Mercy (0-2) dropped an 8-0 decision to #RV North Carolina in game one and a 22-0 setback to the ninth-ranked Seminoles squad.
Sophomore
McKenna Tanguay was 1-for-2 in each game, while sophomore
Liz Paver posted the first Titan hit of the season with a double to left field against North Carolina. Freshman
Reese Ruhlman was the other batter to reach base on the day drawing a walk in game one.
Senior
Liz Murphy started game one against the Tar Heels and allowed just four earned runs in 4.2 innings, striking out a batter. Senior
Cami Sinclair started game two against FSU and permitted just two earned runs before turning it over to freshman
Olivia Warrington, who recorded a strikeout in three innings of work in her collegiate debut.
The Titans will be back in action tomorrow against the same two teams as the red, white and blue meet UNC at 9 a.m. and Florida State at 11:00 a.m.
