DETROIT (3/1/2020) – The University of Detroit Mercy men's track and field team wrapped up competition in the 2020 Horizon League Indoor Track and Field Championship Saturday on Sunday, March 1 from Youngstown State in Ohio.
The Titans finished in fifth place as a team with 50 points scored after 17 events, recording several top-five finishes. Senior
James McCann placed second in both the 3000-meter and 5000-meter runs for the red, white and blue with times of 8:39.01 and 14:40.83 respectively. He was just one second off the pace in both races.
Scott Smith also placed in the top-10 in the 5000-meters (15:05.89) for the Titans.
Sophomore
Daniel Lanfear continued his standout 2020 campaign, earning a silver medal in the high jump, clearing a height of 2.04 meters.
Graduate senior
Eric Leduc also placed fifth in the weight throw (17:03m).
Charles Hilsenbeck was seventh in the 400 meters with a time of 50.21.
Thomas Mueller placed ninth for the Titans in the mile run with a time of 4:21.86.
Dante Bassham was ninth in the 60m dash (7.04).
