Women's Lacrosse Announces Addition of Lena Kinczel

DETROIT (5/29/2020) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse program has announced the addition of one signing to its signing class of 2019-20 as the Titans officially welcome Lena Kinczel (Highland Park, Ill. / Highland Park) to the Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse family.

With the signing of Kinczel, the Titans have a signing class of nine, who are all set to join the program prior to the 2020-21 academic school year. Detroit Mercy announced the prior eight women's lacrosse signings in late November following the fall signing period.

Kinczel is one of three student-athletes in the class from Illinois and the Chicago area. The class overall represents five different states, including Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio and North Carolina.

"We are very excited to have Lena joining our team this fall," Titan women's lacrosse head coach Dwayne Hicks said. "Her speed and tenacity will be great assets for us. I'm looking forward to helping her develop on and off the field and achieving her goals."

Kinczel, a defender/midfielder, was a team captain as a senior and lettered in all four seasons on varsity for the Giants at Highland Park High School. She played club lacrosse with Team ONE across three seasons, winning three different tournaments -- both the King of Queens tournaments in 2018 and 2019 as well as the Top Draw tournament in 2018. She was teammates with fellow incoming Titans Ella Brandt and Kristine Kropp on Team ONE. Kinczel was also a coach within her club lacrosse program.
