DETROIT (2/11/2021) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse program has named seniors Kamryn Corraro and Sarah Lucas as the team captains for the 2021 campaign, it was announced by head coach Dwayne Hicks. Both Corraro and Lucas are entering their fourth season as Titans and are two-year captains.

Corraro, an attacker from Farmington, Minn., started all eight games a season ago for the Titans and ranked second on the team in goals (14) and points (16), while leading the squad in shots on goal percentage (93.5%) after putting 29 of her 31 shots on frame. She had two hat tricks in 2019. In her Titan career, Corraro has played in 44 games and has 55 goals and 66 points.

Lucas, a defender from Avon Lake, Ohio, earned Southern Conference Academic All-League honors, starting the final five contests of the season on defense. She has played in 38 games in her Titan career, starting 24 of them on defense, and has 32 ground balls and 22 caused turnovers for the red, white and blue across three seasons.

Both players have been part of the success of the Titan women's lacrosse team with Detroit Mercy capturing a share of two regular-season Southern Conference crowns (2018, 2019) with the Titans going 4-1 in SoCon play both seasons. The Titans enter a new conference -- the Mid-American Conference (MAC) -- in 2020-21 as one of six teams to compete in the first season of MAC women's lacrosse.

The Titans are busy preparing for the 2021 season, which is set to open in early March. Detroit Mercy opens their 13th season as a program on March 7 against Central Michigan on the road. The red, white and blue are slated for 10 contests in the 2021 season -- all of them coming against MAC opponents.
