HILLSDALE, Mich. (5/13/2021) -- University of Detroit Mercy senior
Kyri Jackson just missed setting another personal record in her final collegiate race as she competed in Hillsdale's "Last Chance" meet on Thursday.
Jackson won the preliminaries in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.27 and then tallied a runner-up 14.18 in the finals, just .03 off her career-best and school record. She owns the top three Titan 100mH performances as well as four of the top five marks.
"It was a great last chance effort by Kyri," said Director of Track & Field/Cross Country
Guy Murray '89. "A great effort in a shortened season for her and I wish she would have had a few more races to really be in form to get that sub-14. Kyri will leave here with a highly decorated career as she was able to accomplish so much as a Titan on the track and in the classroom."
The 2020 Detroit Mercy President Award winner wrapped up a career that saw her win a Horizon League title in the heptathlon in 2018 and the 60-meter hurdles in 2020 as well as on the winning 4x100-meter relay team in 2017. She was also runner-up in the HL heptathlon in 2017, pentathlon in 2018 and on the second-place 4x400-meter relay in 2019.
In her career, she has claimed top-three finishes 10 times at the HL Indoor and Outdoor Championships and has won a race 20 times in her collegiate career spanning events in the 60-meter dash, 60-meter hurdles, 100-meter hurdles, 200-meter dash, 4x100-meter relay, long jump and heptathlon. She also owns the school records in the 60-meters and 200-meters as well as the 100-meter hurdles.
Off the track, she was a five-year member of SAAC, serving as President for two-straight years and represented the Titans at the Horizon League SAAC meetings in Indianapolis. She was also a five-time member of the Detroit Mercy Athletic Director's Honor Roll and a four-time member of the Horizon League Fall & Spring Academic Honor Rolls.
