Titans Record 3.36 GPA in 2021 Spring Semester

DETROIT (5/21/2021) -- The University of Detroit Mercy Department of Athletics had another banner semester in the classroom with 16 of the 17 athletic programs recording a 3.0 GPA or better and the collective department posting a 3.36 GPA for the 2021 spring semester.

"This is a great accomplishment by our student-athletes with everything they have had to deal with this year," said Director of Athletics Robert C. Vowels, Jr. "Between different practice schedules, competitions, and COVID testing protocols, to be able to handle that and still achieve a great term GPA should make all of us proud!"

Twelve (12) of the 17 Titan athletic teams had a GPA of 3.3 or better, with the Detroit Mercy women's golf (3.85 GPA) and men's golf squads (3.62) leading the way on each side. Detroit Mercy women's soccer (3.63), women's fencing (3.63), men's lacrosse (3.46), softball (3.43), women's lacrosse (3.39), men's fencing (3.37), women's track and field/cross country program (3.38) and the Titan men's soccer squad (3.34) also achieved higher than a team GPA of 3.3 this past semester.

Thirty-four (34) Titan student-athletes posted a perfect 4.0 GPA during the spring semester, including nine women's soccer student-athletes.

The Titans announced that more than 230 student-athletes earned Detroit Mercy Athletic Director's Honor Roll accolades in February for sporting a 3.0 GPA or better during the opening semester of the school year. The Titans also had 109 honorees on the Horizon League Fall Academic Honor Roll (3.2 GPA+), which was believed to be the most for the Titans in the past 15-plus years.
