DETROIT (7/13/2021) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse program and head coach
Dwayne Hicks has announced the signing of two student-athletes for the upcoming 2021-22 school year. Both incoming student-athletes inked their National Letters of Intent (NLI) to play for the Titans in 2021.
The two new Titans who are set to join the program later this summer are
Katie Bilello (Monkton, Md. / St. Paul's School for Girls) and
Maddy Camm (Elmira, Ont. / Elmira District S.S.).
The pair join
three other Titan newcomers, who are also slated to join the Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse squad when the school year begins. The two signings bring the 2020-21 signing class up to five total.

Height: 5'4"
Hometown: Monkton, Maryland
High School: St. Paul's School for Girls
Accolades: A 2021 graduate of St. Paul's School for Girls ... Lettered in varsity lacrosse for three seasons for the Gators and coach Mary Gagnon ... Also played three years of varsity in soccer ... Was the 2021 recipient of the Hollingshead Sportsmanship Award (school athletic award for character and leadership) ... Helped team to 15-1 record and an IAAM A Conference Championship in 2021 and finished the year as the No. 1 ranked team in the country by USA Lacrosse ... Helped Gators to top-20 ranking nationally and IAAM A Conference Finalist spot in 2019, playing all three positions ... Played goalkeeper in soccer, winning an indoor soccer title in 2017-18 ... Played club lacrosse with C2 Select for seven years ... Her father played soccer at John Hopkins and mother was an Equestrain Olympic contender ... Plans to major in Biology.
Hicks on Bilello: "I'm very excited to have Katie join our team. She is coming from a very competitive team in Maryland, who were state champions, so she knows what it takes to win at a high level. Her intensity will certainly help us on our defensive end of the field."

Accolades: A 2021 graduate of Elmira ... Played three different sports in high school (didn't have varsity lacrosse), competing in volleyball (three years), soccer (two years) and basketball ... Also competed in ringette and lacrosse outside of high school ... Received the High School Athletic award in 2021 and made Team Canada U17's training camp for ringette ... Also an All-Star at ringette nationals ... Named MVP of the club lacrosse team in 2017 & 2018 ... Played club lacrosse with KW United (10 years) and Edge (two years) ... Lists her biggest thrill as competing in the Ontario Summer Games ... Plans to major in Engineering.
Hicks on Camm: "Maddy is going to be a solid transition player for us. Her stick skills and lacrosse IQ are very impressive. We're looking forward to getting her in the mix and having her push the tempo of the game. She's exciting to watch."
