SOUTH BEND (12/2/22) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's track and field team completed their first meet of the indoor season as they competed in the 2022 Blue and Gold Invitational on Friday, Dec. 2 hosted by Notre Dame. 

Top Finishers
The meet began with the throwing events where Kayla Smith finished sixth in the Weight Throw and Faith Williams began her collegiate career with an 8.9 meter mark. Smith would throw at 10.97 meter distance in the Shot Put while Williams marked a 7.39 meter throw. 

Micah Carey earned a top-10 finish in the Long Jump at 5.57 meters, good for sixth on Friday. 

Mone Knowles scored third in the 200-meter at 25.17 seconds.

Following the Blue and Gold Invitational, the red, white, and blue will have time off over the semester break before returning to action on Jan. 21 at the Mastodon Invitational hosted by Purdue Fort Wayne.
