AKRON (1/5/22) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's track and field team saw seven athletes capture personal records on day two of the Akron Invitational in Akron, OH. Saturday Feb. 5.
Ringing The PR Bell
Every athlete competing at the Akron Invitational that set a new personal record got the opportunity to ring the "PR Bell".
Detroit Mercy saw seven such athletes;
Josie Arnold,
Zoe Madden,
Allison Sherman,
Rebecca Arnold,
Evie Wright,
Kaitlin Murray, and
Nina Pizzo.
Josie Arnold set a personal record in the 800-Meter Run with a time of 2:18.00 which was good for fourth place in the Blue Division. Pizzo also set her best time in the 800-Meter at 2:33.15.
Madden earned a new record in the Triple Jump in just her third time competing in the event. Her new high mark is at 10.13 meters.
Sherman,
Rebecca Arnold, Wright, and Murray all achieved new personal bests in the 3000-Meter Run. Sherman ran a 10:27.18 on her way to first place in the Blue Division while Arnold was right behind her with a second place time of 10:28.28. Wright finished with a 10:43.44 and Murray was just a few seconds behind with a 10:50.87.

Following the record setting weekend in Akron, the red, white, and blue will travel to Allendale, MI. for the Grand Valley State Big Meet Feb. 11-12.
