Lanfear Qualifies For NCAA Prelims

Daniel Lanfear Will Compete At 2022 NCAA Regionals
INDIANAPOLIS (5/19/22) -- Daniel Lanfear has officially qualified to represent the University of Detroit Mercy men's track and field team at the NCAA Division I East Region Preliminary Championships in Bloomington, Indiana May 25-28. Indiana University will serve as the host for the 2022 NCAA East Region Preliminaries.

Lanfear enters the NCAA Prelims 43rd in the High Jump. He will compete in the event on May 27 at 2:30 p.m.

Lanfear qualified in the High Jump with a personal record mark of 2.09 meters/6-10.25 at the Oakland University Last Chance Meet on May 12.

During the outdoor season, Lanfear started the spring with a 2.01 meter jump at the Spartan Invite on April 2.

Lanfear would hit jumps of 2.05 meters or better four times during the spring, while finishing third at the Horizon League Championships with a 2.01 meter clearance.

The senior jumper becomes the 13th qualification Detroit Mercy has had on the men's side since the current format began in 2010. Additionally, Lanfear is the sixth Titan male to represent the red, white, and blue during that time as Lesley Hanna, Eric Lewis, Colin Cashner, Khalil Parris, and Ben Kendell each represented the track and field program at least twice. Brittany Horne is the lone female representative since 2010 when she competed in the Hammer Throw in 2010. Kendell was the last Titan to qualify; doing so in 2018 and 2019 in the 10,000-Meter, coming in 20th and 21st respectively.
