Relays, Sprints, Distance & Jumps All Score As Titans Take Fifth At #HLTF Championships

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. (5/10/2026) -- An all-around team effort was the story as the University of Detroit Mercy men's track and field team ended the Horizon League Championships in fifth place on Sunday.

The Titans finished with 68 points at the league meet, the most since they recorded 98 for fourth place in 2023.

Detroit Mercy saw four events earn bronze and one a silver in the final day of competition.

The best mark on the day was in the 4x100 as seniors Jaden McKenzie and Antonio Talley, junior Mike Ferguson, and freshman Luke Hansen posted a time of 3:15.03, fifth in school history.

Meanwhile, the 4x400 quartet of McKenzie, sophomore John Almeda, and freshmen Micah Chaney and Joey DeCasas earned third in 41.55.

Chaney would go on to register two more bronze performances as he clocked 10.83 in the 100 meters, 10th in school history, as well as 21.77 in the 200m, seventh in the Titan record book.

Senior Joshua Otten lowered his school record in the 1,500m as he ran 3:47.85 for third, while McKenzie was fourth in the 400m in 47.42, good for the fourth best time ever by a Titan.

Freshman Deon Robertson claimed sixth in the high jump with a height of 2.01m, fifth in the school record book, while freshman Isaiah Fox placed sixth in the 400 meter hurdles in 56.52.

In the first two days of the meet, DeCasas won the long jump, while freshman Weston Glei took third in the decathlon.
