MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. (9/1/22) - Freshman
Sophia Blankenship continued her outstanding offensive production scoring her team-leading third goal of the season while fellow freshman
Megan Malek posted her first career goal as Detroit Mercy battled but fell 4-2 at Central Michigan on Thursday night. Junior
Jazmine Scott made three saves in goal.
After trailing 2-0 at halftime, Detroit Mercy was awarded a free kick in the 54th minute. Blankenship calmly stepped up and delivered a strike over the defensive wall into the back of the net getting the Titans on the board.
However, CMU scored two goals in the span of two minutes to take a commanding 4-1 lead.
Malek then posted her first career tally just two minutes later in the 60th minute. The Titans turned up the offensive pressure but could not cut into the 4-2 deficit over the final 30 minutes of the match.
