SOUTH BEND, Ind. (12/1/2023) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's track and field team began the season with a number of career bests as the Titans were at Notre Dame's Blue & Gold Invitational on Friday.
Senior
Kayla Smith had the best finish, taking third in the weight with a career throw of 17.33-meters, fourth all-time in the school record book.
Sophomores
Jada Clark and
Zoe Morris were seventh in the high jump with a leap of 1.60-meters, a career-best for Clark. Morris also set a personal record with a time of 9.95 for 14th in the 60-meter hurdles, while Clark posted a PR of 27.73 for 17th in the 200m.
Senior
Alexa Krauth took eighth in the 60mH in 9.48, while sophomore
Gracelyn Peebles ran a career-low 10.11 for 15th.
Freshman
Gabriela Gashaj claimed ninth in the 200m in 26.85, while graduate senior
Le'Gary Jackson finished just behind her in 27.02.
The 4x400-meter relay closed things out with a fourth-place effort as the quartet of Peebles, Krauth, Clark and Morris clocked a 4:04.59.
Detroit Mercy will now have a break in their schedule for finals and Christmas and will return to action at the SVSU Classic on Jan. 12.
