DETROIT (12/4/2023) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse team added some talented players from the Midwest and also picked up a commitment from the Pacific time zone as the Titans announced their 2023 fall recruiting class on Monday. 

The class consists of three players from Michigan, two from Minnesota and Ohio and a student-athlete from California and Canada. 

"Our staff is very excited to welcome the 2024 class to the Titan family," said head coach Madeline Dugan. "This class has a great mix of talent, grit, passion, and love for lacrosse that will continue to help take our program to that next level!"

Lucy Annese * Defense * Oshawa, Ont. * Maxwell Heights 

• Earned letters in volleyball, field hockey and lacrosse
• A five-time Elite Provincial champion  and helped her team to three undefeated seasons
• Won a silver medal with the Ontario U19 team
• The recipient of the DDSB Rob Dyment Character Athlete Award and the Athlete of the Year
• Played club with the Lady Blue Knights

Maria Coleman * Attack * Westlake Village, Calif. * Oak Park

• A three-year letterwinner in lacrosse
• A two-time All-Conference performer and was First Team as a sophomore
• Earned the Coaches Award as a freshman and the Team Offensive MVP as a sophomore
• Guided her team to a CIF semifinals appearance, scoring five goals in a contest that saw her team playing with two players down
• Played club with Mad Dog West Elite, Oregon Pride, LA Select and Nation United, helping Nation United to a US Lacrosse National Championship for the 2024 division

Emily Coyne * Goalie * Plymouth, Mich. * Canton

• Played varsity lacrosse at Canton
• Team MVP, Coaches Award and Goalie of the Season as a freshman and sophomore
• Posted a state-record 150 saves as a sophomore and also had a school and state record 17 saves and increased that to 19
• Honored with First Team All-Conference accolades as a freshman and sophomore
• Tabbed All-State Honorable Mention both seasons 
• Played club with Triumph Lacrosse and Uproar Lacrosse in Maryland and helped the team with a Champions of Summer Genesis title

Kaitlynn Hedrick * Goalie * Gahanna, Ohio * Gahanna Lincoln 

• A three-year varsity letterwinner in lacrosse and a two-time team captain
• Tabbed All-Region Honorable Mention as a sophomore and junior
• Has posted over 250 saves in her career and holds the record for most saves in a game with 22
• Plays club with Lucky Lax

Jaeda Jensen * Midfield * Hugo, Minn. * White Bear Lake

• Earned varsity letters in every season
• Named First Team All-Conference and First Team All-Section as a sophomore and junior 
• Has registered 106 goals, 42 assists and 148 points in her three years, leading her team with 33 goals and 42 points as a freshman, 36 goals, eight assists and 44 points as a sophomore and 25 assists and 62 points as a junior
• Played club with Team Minnesota and Pipeline Lacrosse, helping Team Minnesota to a Midwest Tournament title and a berth to the National Cup

Madeline Kreiger * Attack * Wyoming, Mich. * Grandville

• A varsity letterwinner in every season
• Has scored over 100 career goals
• Team Attack MVP and First Team All-Conference as a sophomore after setting a school record for most points in a season
• Was the Rookie of the Year as a freshman and MVP of the Attack unit as a junior, despite recovering from an injury 
• Played club with Westside Lacrosse and Pure Advantage 
• A member of the National Honor Society

Beverly Peterson * Midfield * Hugo, Minn. * White Bear Lake

• A three-year letterwinner in lacrosse
• A two-time team captain and was the Team MVP as a sophomore and junior
• Invited to play in All-State game as a junior 
• Played club with Team Minnesota

Sophia Schwab * Attack * Dublin, Ohio * Dublin Scioto 

• Earned varsity letters in basketball, volleyball and lacrosse
• Tabbed First Team All-Conference in all three seasons and was First Team All-Region as a sophomore and junior
• A two-time team MVP
• Has recorded 215 career goals and 84 assists, including a school-record 103 goals as a junior, the second-best-ever mark in Ohio for goals per game
• Played club with Impact Lacrosse
• A member of the National Honor Society

Gabrianna Vasquez * Attack * Spring Lake, Mich. * Spring Lake 

• A varsity letterwinner in bowling, field hockey, golf and lacrosse
• A team captain and was chosen to represent her team at the women's lacrosse leadership conference 
• Named First Team All-Conference all three years
• Tabbed All-State Honorable Mention and Academic All-State all three seasons
• Helped her team to a regional finals after a come-from-behind win against Catholic Central 
• Played club with Pure Advantage and helped her team to a title at the Champions of Mid-America tournament
