INDIANAPOLIS, IN. (3/22/23) -- Josie Arnold was named to the 2023 Valeo #HLTF Indoor All-Academic Team on Wednesday, with teammate
Micah Carey garnering Honorable Mention from the Horizon League.
The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for Horizon League All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale), have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits, and participate in 50 percent of the team's overall contests.
Arnold - a senior Nursing student - posted a 3.62 GPA. On the track, Arnold set a career-best in the 3,000-Meter at 10:55 at the SVSU Classic and scored fifth at the Horizon League Indoor Championships in the 800-Meter. Additionally, Arnold is a four-time member of the Detroit Mercy Athletic Director's Honor Roll and a two-time member of the Horizon League Fall and Spring Academic Honor Roll.Â
Carey took third in the Long Jump at the Horizon League Championships with a career-best jump of 5.87 meters. Carey also tallied wins at Michigan and Akron in the Long Jump. The Nursing major put up a 3.43 GPA and is a four-time member of the Detroit Mercy Athletic Director's Honor Roll and a two-time member of the Horizon League Fall and Spring Academic Honor Roll.Â
