Ariel Chang is in the top 10 and freshman
Taylor Kondel is in the top 20 as the University of Detroit Mercy women's golf team finished up round one of the Horizon League Championships on Sunday.
Chang is tied for 10th with a 78, just four strokes behind the leader in her first round on the course after missing last season's event with an injury. She had nine pars, a birdie and one of the two eagles on the day in her opening 18, draining her short eagle putt on the par 5, 14th hole.
Kondel shares 20th with an 81 as she registered seven pars and a birdie in the first championship round of her collegiate career.
Junior
Sophia Ubaydi is in 35th place with an 85 as she knocked in seven pars overall.
As a team, the Titans are in eighth with a 333 at the par-72, 5,960-yard Las Colinas course at the Mission Inn Resort in Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida.
