BIRMINGHAM, Mich. (10/14/2024) -- Sophomore 
Mason Sokolowski posted a win and three other Titans were able to halve their match as the University of Detroit Mercy men's golf team began play at Central Michigan's Motor City Match-Up on Monday.
The event, which had the women and men play together in a match-up format, saw the Titans fall to Oakland 8.5 to 3.5 at the par 72, 6,678-yard Birmingham Country Club in Birmingham, Michigan.
Sokolowski dominated his match against Oakland's Ellis Kinnaird, winning 4-up in the third position. He took control initially, winning three of the first five holes. OU would come back to knot it with eight holes left, but Sokolowski - who shot a 1-over 73 on the day overall - won five of the next six to collect a full point for the Titans.

Marko Banic and sophomores 
David Swab and 
Gowtham Nalluri were all able to come away with a tie and a half a point.
In the top spot, Swab was in a battle with Luke Kelly from Oakland and led by two on two occasions before dropping the last two holes for the tie. The match saw Swab fire a 2-under 70 on the day.
Banic's match saw him come from behind to earn a share of the point at No. 2. The back nine finished tied before Robert Burns went in front by two with three holes left. Banic was able to win seven, split eight and then took nine for a tie as he carded a 1-over 73 total.
Nalluri also had an early lead in his match, going up by as many as three in the first nine holes, but would falter late for a tie at his spot at No. 4. 
On the women's side, freshman Morgan Jones tallied a win for UDM at the fifth spot.
The final contest of the event will have the red, white, and blue face Green Bay tomorrow at 10:00 a.m.
