Jada Davis hit 1-for-3 with an RBI double while sophomore
Trinity Fessler went 1-for-2 with a walk and run scored as Detroit Mercy opened MTSU Invitational with a 9-1 setback to host Middle Tennessee State on Friday afternoon at the Blue Raider Softball Field.
Freshman
Alexis Hoff also recorded her first career hit to round out the three total knocks for the Titans (0-6).
Junior
Jordan Kavanaugh went 4.0 innings with three strikeouts in the circle. Graduate Student
Olivia Warrington picked up two strikeouts in 1.2 innings of relief.
Recap:
• UDM got runners on first and second in the first inning off a pair of walks but left them stranded
• The Titans finally broke through with two out in the top of the third inning. Fessler hit a single to center field and was driven in off Davis' RBI double for a 1-0 lead.
• MTSU (4-7) got on the board after they pulled off a double steal of second and home base. They added another run off a sacrifice bunt followed by a two-run homer to take a 4-1 lead.
• The Blue Raiders added three more runs in the fifth and a pair in the bottom of the sixth to close out the game.
Detroit Mercy continues play at the MTSU Invitational against Bradley on Friday, Mar. 2 at 10 am ET followed by Army at 8:30 pm ET.
