Four Titans Rank Top 50 Nationally

Junior Meredith Leavell leads the MAC in saves per game and save percentage.
DETROIT (3/14/2024) -- The University of Detroit Mercy women's lacrosse team will kick off Mid-American Conference play this weekend, but so far through the non-conference schedule, a quartet of Titans are ranked in the top 50 in a few statistical categories.

As a team, the Titans are currently first in the MAC and 33rd in the nation with 9.29 caused turnovers per game. They have registered 10 takeaways in five of their seven games this year after doing so just four times in 2023. UDM is also second in the conference and 61st in the country, picking up 15.71 ground balls per contest.

Individually, junior Meredith Leavell has 79 saves on the season, second in the MAC and fourth in the nation, while her 11.29 saves per game leads the league and is fifth in Division I. Her .425 save percentage is also tops in the conference and 53rd in the country.

Junior Maddy Camm ranks second in the MAC and 31st in the country with 1.86 caused turnovers per game. She has already amassed 13 caused turnovers on the season, three away from her career high of 16 set last year. She is also tied for fourth in the conference and 40th in the NCAA with 2.71 ground balls per game.

Senior Sarah Meek is right there with Camm, ranking third in the MAC with 1.57 caused turnovers - 71st in DI - and tied for fourth in the league and 40th in the nation with the 2.71 ground balls. Meek has already eclipsed her career marks with 11 caused turnovers and 19 GB's.

Senior Cat Kopchia's 22 goals are second in the MAC and 39th in the NCAA, while her 3.14 goals per game are third and 49th, respectively. Her 25 total points are fifth in the league and 90th in DI. Kopchia is already approaching her career highs in goals (24) and points (39), and her 113 total points are just one shy of moving into the top 10 in school history.
