ROCHESTER, Mich. (4-10-24) - Junior
Jordan Kavanaugh's third complete game of the season proved to be the charm as she picked up her first career win in a Detroit Mercy uniform as the Titans locked down a 2-1 Metro Series win over arch-rival Oakland for the first time since the 2019 season. The Titans dropped the second leg of the doubleheader 8-0 on Wednesday afternoon at the Oakland Softball Field.

Claire Borg delivered the big hit in the first game with a two-run double to score freshman
Alexis Hoff and junior
Amanda Schick giving the Titans a 2-1 lead for good.
Hoff went 2-for-2 while Schick and sophomores
Alison Donaugh and
Jenna Holt each recorded a hit.
Game 1 Recap:
• Oakland took a 1-0 lead off an RBI groundout in the second inning.
• Schick was hit by a pitch followed by a base hit by Hoff. Borg's double scored both runners for a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning.
• The Titans got the bases loaded with one out in the top sixth inning but the Golden Grizzlies were able to get out of the jam.
•. Kavanaugh was lights out the rest of the way as she retired the last six batters in order to seal the Titans' first #HLSB win of the season.
Game 2 Recap:
• Oakland posted three runs in the first inning followed by two in the second and three more in the third for an 8-0 lead.
• For the second consecutive outing, Detroit Mercy had a problem getting to Oakland ace pitcher Sydney Campbell as Schick and freshman
Olivia Malcolm posted the Titans' only hits in the game.
Detroit Mercy hosts Cleveland State for the home opener at Buysse Ballpark on Saturday, April 13 at 4 on ESPN+.
