Jordan Kavanaugh pulled double duty going 3-for-7 overall with an RBI double and walk at the plate while tossing 6.0 innings with a season-high eight strikeouts in the circle in game two as Detroit Mercy came up short with a pair of 2-1 #HLSB doubleheader setbacks at IUPUI on Saturday afternoon.
Graduate Student
Olivia Warrington was also solid in the circle posting a season-high eight strikeouts in 6.0 innings of work in game one.
Sophomore
Trinity Fessler went 3-for-3 with a run and a walk in game one and drew three walks in the nightcap while freshman
Alexis Hoff hit 2-for-3. Freshman
Claire Borg also recorded a hit and a walk in the first game.
Game 1 Recap:
• Fessler got a single in the first inning but was left stranded
• Borg's single game in the second inning. The Titans got runners on second and third off an error but were also left stranded
• The Jags got a pair of runs off a double to move ahead 2-0 in the bottom half of the second.
• Kavanaugh's first hit in a Titan uniform was an RBI double to plate Fessler, cutting the deficit to 2-1 in the third inning.
• UDM got runners on first and second base off an error and walk but were left stranded.
Game 2 Recap:
• Detroit Mercy took a 1-0 lead as Fessler scored off a throwing error in the first inning.
• Hoff delivered a single up the middle and moved to second off a Fessler walk but was unable to get across.
• IUPUI tied the game on an RBI ground-out in the fourth inning.
• The Jags then took the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth inning off a RBI single.
• Fessler drew her third walk of the game in the seventh inning. She then moved to second base on a ground out and then to third on a wild pitch. However, she was not able to score to tie the game.
Detroit Mercy at IUPUI play the series finale on Sunday, April 7 at 11 am.
