Men's Basketball Adds Peter Fuchs Jr., Chase Kuiper To Roster

Peter Fuchs Jr. (L) and Chase Kuiper (R) have joined the Titans.

DETROIT (6/25/2024) -- The University of Detroit Mercy men's basketball team is starting summer practice and the Titans saw their roster grow with the additions of Peter Fuchs Jr. and Chase Kuiper.

Fuchs Jr. is a transfer from Division II's Minnesota-Crookston, while Kuiper is a local product from Troy.

"These two student-athletes have committed to working hard and bringing a high level of enthusiasm and passion to the program," said head coach Mark Montgomery.

A transfer from the University of Minnesota-Crookston with three years of eligibility
Missed his freshman year with an injury, but came back to play in 22 games last year and averaged 6.4 points and 1.8 rebounds
Shot 40.9% from the field and 77.3% at the free-throw line
Tallied a season-high 16 points against Wayne State (Neb.)
Earned letters in baseball and basketball in high school
Averaged 17.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists at Wausau West before transferring to DME Academy and posting 13.1 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.8 assists

Earned Second Team All-State by the Detroit Free Press and Honorable Mention All-State by the Detroit News after recording 19.1 points and 10.1 rebounds

Also earned Division 1 BEST (formerly All-State) by the Basketball Coaches Association Of Michigan
Helped Troy to a school-record 20-straight wins and a 22-2 mark, claiming two-straight conference titles and a district championship as a junior

The two join transfers Legend Geeter, Orlando Lovejoy, Jared Lary and Grant Gondrezick II and freshmen Nate Johnson, Ryan Kalambay, Miles Mitchell, TJ Nadeau and Stephen Okoro as newly-inked Titans for the 2024-25 season.
