Marisa Silver held Toledo off the board in the first half while making four saves on 12 shots in goal. However, the Rockets broke through with the lone goal in the second half as Detroit Mercy fell 1-0 on Friday night at Paul Hotmer Field.
Freshman Sam Sickinger took two shots for Detroit Mercy (0-5), while freshman Natalie Dye and junior Jen Mateyak each recorded a shot on goal.
The host Rockets (1-2-1) scored what was ultimately the game-winning goal in the 63rd minute. UDM did all they could to find the equalizer but were unable to convert.
Detroit Mercy will return to Titan Field for a Labor Day match against Madonna on Monday, Sept. 2nd. Kick-off is set for 1:00 p.m. and is the first leg of a doubleheader with the men's soccer team who will take on Chicago State at 4 p.m.
